The South Carolina Association of
Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (SCATFACS) has recognized Ms. Kimberly
Myers of Aynor High School as the South Carolina Family and Consumer Sciences
Teacher of the Year. Myers has made valuable contributions to Family and
Consumer Sciences on the local, state, national, and international levels. She
is the Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at Aynor High School, serves as
advisor for an affiliated Family, Career and Community Leader of America
(FCCLA) chapter, and faithfully performs the duties of Career and Technology
Education (CATE) Department chair. She has held several officer positions in
SCATFACS and actively participates in the revision and development of state
level curriculum. Myers is listed as a teacher reviewer in several Family and
Consumer Sciences textbooks that are published by Glencoe-McGraw Hill which are
distributed on a national and international level. As a result of this
recognition, Myers will compete with teachers from other SC Association of Career and Technical
Education (SCACTE) divisions for the title of SCACTE Teacher of the year. If selected, she will have an opportunity to represent South Carolina on the
national level by competing for the ACTE Teacher of the Year Award.
