October 30 Deadline to Opt Out of Contact List for Military Recruiters

Under the No Child Left Behind Act and the National Defense Authorization Act, military recruiters are entitled to receive the names, addresses and telephone numbers of high school juniors and seniors. If you wish for your child’s information to be withdrawn from the list released to recruiters, please express your wishes in writing no later than October 30. An online form is available for your convenience at our District webpage, www.horrycountyschools.net or the homepage of your child’s high school. You may fax your request to 843.488.6779 or email sjohnson@horrycountyschools.net. Information will be released to recruiters on or about November 1. Requests are valid for one year and must be resubmitted annually.

Sports Announcement

Any student or parent attending the football game in Dillon Friday night, October 4 needs to park behind the visitor stands.  Dillon County does not allow any person to bring any type of purse or bag into the stadium. Please be aware of these important details if you or anyone you know plans to attend the game Friday night. GO BIG BLUE!

AHS School Improvement Council Elections

Attention Parents: Aynor High School’s School Improvement Council elections will be held October 8-11. All interested candidates should write a brief statement (two or three sentences) about why he/she wishes to serve on the AHS School Improvement Council. These statements should be submitted to Ms. Lawrence-Patten, AHS principal, no later than Monday, October 7, 2013 by 9:00 a.m. Statements and the candidate’s names will be published, with the candidate’s permission, on the school’s website. Voting will be open to the Aynor Community from October 8 – 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. A ballot box will be located at the front office of the school. Voting will end October 11, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. Newly elected members will be announced October 14, 2013. According to the State Law for SIC membership terms of service: Elected members are required by law (EFA, EIA) to serve a minimum two-year term. The law places no limits to the number of terms a member may serve, but the school or district may choose to set limits through SIC bylaws or district policy.
