JROTC Drill Meet

Congratulations to the JROTC Unarmed Regulation Drill Team led by AHS student, Cadet Ayawna Deas. The team won 3rd place this past Saturday, March 10 during our annual host meet. Cadet Daniel Mullins placed 3rd in the Knock Out Competition. Chief Watkins and Sgt. Rouse want to thank everyone for making this meet a great success!

AHS Celebrates Pi (π) Day 2012


Wednesday, March 14 was National Pi Day (as in the mathematical constant that is the ratio of any Euclidean circle's circumference to its diameter--π). In celebration of this day, the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society sold slices of home made pie for $1.00 during each lunch. The opportunity is used as a fundraiser for the club. Ms. Dawn Foley, math teacher at AHS, serves as the Honor Society's sponsor.

Miss Blue Velvet 2012 Crowned


Scout Haselden was recently crowned Miss Blue Velvet 2012.  She was also crowned the winner of the talent portion of the competition.  The brunette sophomore sang her way to the title with her own rendition of Adele’s popular song, “Someone Like You.”  The contestants competed in evening gown, talent and interview categories.

Lady Jackets Open With A Win


The Lady Jackets opened their season at home on March 7th hosting the St. James Sharks.  Aynor won the game 3-2 and Shelby Culler, pictured, was the winning pitcher.  The Lady Jackets finished the 2011 campaign as runners-up in the region and had a strong showing in the state playoffs.  The team hopes to build on their success from last year and challenge for the VIII-AA Region title in 2012.

AHS Art Student Competes for Scholarship


 Chelsea Dial, a senior at AHS, is competing for a $2000 scholarship from the Franklin G. Burroughs - Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum of Myrtle Beach this week. We wish Chelsea the best of luck! Go Big Blue!
