Wrestlers Qualify for State Championship Round

Congratulations to the Blue Jacket varsity wrestling team for qualifying 4 wrestlers for the state individual championships this Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23 in Anderson, SC. Landon Lawson won the Lower State Championship in the 113 pound weight class and Andrew Scruggs won the Lower State Championship in the 132 pound weight class. Both Landon and Andrew finished the tournament with a 3-0 record. Hunter Johnson placed 3rd in the 106 pound weight class and DQ Nash placed 4th in the 220 pound weight class. All four wrestlers will travel to Anderson, SC this Friday to wrestle in the state championships held at the Anderson Civic Center. Congratulations boys and good luck!

Seniors Take Notice

SENIORS: Early release applications are due in the Guidance Office by Wednesday, January 16. You ARE NOT guaranteed early release unless you meet the criteria on the application. Stop by the guidance office for an application.

1st Semester Drawing to a Close (Exam Schedule)

The end of the 1st semester for the 2012-2013 school year is fast approaching. Exams are scheduled as follows: Wednesday, January 16--3rd & 4th block exams; Thursday, January 17--1st & 2nd block exams. Thursday, January 17 will also be a 2 1/2 hour early release day for students, and there will be no school for students on Friday, January 18 and Monday, January 21. Students return on Tuesday, January 22 for the start of the new semester.

AHS IB Programme Open House

Aynor High School will be hosting an International Baccalaureate (IB) Open House for eight grade honors’ students and their parents interested in the Aynor High School IB Program. The AHS IB Open House is scheduled for Thursday, January 24, 2013, at 6:00 P.M. in the AHS Auditorium. Aynor High Alma Mater

On the coast of Carolina, stands the school we love the best. Blue the banner waving o'er her, emblem of her fearlessness. High green pines are all around her; English ivy climbs her walls. Hallowed are the many memories of years spent within her halls. To Aynor High our Alma Mater, pledge we now our loyalty. True are her daughters, strong her sons; crowning her with victory. Her guiding hand, her praise, her name; we'll sing above the rest. We shall to all the world proclaim, the glory of our AHS.

According to historians, the Alma Mater was written by Maribel Lewis, a member of the AHS Class of 1942. She received assistance from her school mate, John Emory Floyd. Together they crafted lyrics that reflected their love of and loyalty to Aynor High School. The lyrics and melody remain distinct and unique to this day.
