Students Prepare For Year's End With Major Assessments

 Final exams are in sight and the end of the 2011-2012 school year is just around the corner. This week Aynor High students began taking their state-mandated end of course exams (EOCs) for English 1, Algebra 1/Math for the Technologies 2, Biology and US History. Final exam schedules are as follows: Senior exams: 3rd and 4th block exams on Friday, May 25; 1st and 2nd block exams on Tuesday, May 29; Underclassmen exams: 1st and 2nd block exams on Thursday, May 31; 3rd and 4th block exams on Friday, June 1. Many teachers are preparing students with an extra "push" for their exams by holding after school study sessions. Ms. Altman, who teaches Algebra 1 at AHS, held her after school session on Monday night, May 21 from 7 to 8 p.m. and greeted over thirty eager students.

Aynor's Got Talent Winners


Congratulations to Kaitlyn Calder (center) and Hunter Johnson (right) who were the big winners in the third annual Aynor’s Got Talent competition.  Kaitlyn sang Calvery’s Hill and was accompanied by Hunter with back up vocal and guitar.  Scout Haselden (left), who sang Free to be Me, won second place.  Scout was also the recipient of the Musician’s Choice Award which was voted on by members of Aynor Elementary’s Blue Pan Jam. The competition features performers from Aynor High and winners are determined by a live audience vote.  The event has become a community favorite over the past three years and is sponsored by the Broadcast Journalism class. Congratulations Blue Jackets!!

Have A Great Meal And Support the FCCLA


The Aynor High School Chapter of the FCCLA will be having a fundraiser tonight (Friday, May 11) at Bo-Doo's BBQ on 701 North beside Nobles Auto Sales from 5 to 10 p.m. The organization is raising money for three members to attend the National Leadership Conference this summer in Orlando, Florida. Come out tonight to Bo-Doos, have a great meal and support the Blue Jacket FCCLA! Look for the FCCLA sign. We hope to see you there!

Lady Jacket Softball Advances to Lower State

The Lady Jacket Softball team advanced in the playoffs this week and clenched the Region 5 championship. The Jackets defeated Silver Bluff with a score of 7 to 2. The girls play in the first round of the Lower State Championship on Saturday, May 5 at 5:00 p.m. against Hanna Hann on the road. Come out and support our softball team. Go Big Blue!!!

Aynor's Got Talent


Ready to see Aynor High’s most talented performers?  Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. when the Broadcast Journalism class sponsors the finals of the Aynor’s Got Talent competition in the AHS auditorium.  Singers, dancers, bands and instrumentalists who have made it through preliminary rounds will compete for a first place prize in the showcase gala.  The contestants include: Sarah Altman, Crystal Pee, Scout Haselden, Amber Krasula, Kaitlyn Calder and Hunter Johnson, Jasmine Mitchell, Margaret Perry, The  Hannah Lammers Band, Logan Robinson and Dee Dee Green.  Audience members will cast a live vote on their admission tickets for the performance they think is the best. So, come out and support your favorite artist!  Aynor Elementary’s Blue Pan Jam, under the direction of Connie Christie, will entertain beginning at 6:30 and during the vote tallying.   Last year’s winner, Daniel Rabon will also entertain. Admission is $5.00 per ticket.   

Interim Report Cards Issued Today

Interim Report Cards will be distributed to Aynor High School students during their 1st block classes today (Friday, May 4). With only nineteen days left in school, it is paramount that students are aware of their progress and any attendance issues. Parents can stay up-to-date with their child's attendance and grades by checking the parent portal in Power School. For more information on how to access this feature, contact Ms. Peggy Rabon at 488-7100. Also, contact your child's teacher for more details on their academic progress.
